SEMINAL HALIFAX BAND FEATURING MEMBERS OF WINTERSLEEP, HOLY F*CK, AND MORE UNVEILS DETAILS OF FORTHCOMING LP, ADDICTED TO SADNESS
Celebrated Halifax band CONTRIVED releases “Half Of It,” a brand new single available now.
A prescient narrative sung by drummer Loel Campbell paints the picture of two North Americans meeting at a bar, commiserating, and airing their grievances about the perpetual doom of the state of their societies and the noose that capitalism has around their futures, “Half Of It” finds Contrived continuing to push their sonic boundaries.
A sparse indie-pop arrangement centred around a plucky bass line and staccato guitar stabs counterbalances the somber lyrics, propelling the track to revel in a finely executed duality. A resolute contrast to Contrived’s previous single, the towering “Gemini,” “Half Of It” acutely showcases the ever-expanding dynamic of the band has been a fixture in the Canadian musical landscape for more than twenty years.
Today, Contrived also unveils the album artwork and tracklist for Addicted to Sadness, their first full-length album in a decade and a half. Available on vinyl, CD and in digital formats, the record is set for release on Friday, September 27, 2024 via LHM Records. Pre-orders are live HERE.
Coinciding with the release date, Contrived performs two album release shows in the Maritimes:
September 27 – Halifax, NS @ The Seahorse Tavern
September 28 – Fredericton, NB @ The CAP
