MULTI-PLATINUM ARTIST SHAWN HOOK DELIVERS SPELLBINDING NEW SINGLE “MAGIC”
“Magic,” the new single from multi-platinum pop singer-songwriter Shawn Hook is available today via Infinity & Records/UMG/Virgin Music. The enchanting, high-energy smash is the latest release from Hook’s forthcoming summer 2024 EP and follows his January single “Bigger Than The Night,” released to mark the one-year anniversary of his tonsil cancer diagnosis and celebrate his remission.
“I’ve been looking forward to releasing “Magic” since the day I wrote it,” shares Hook. “It’s an up-tempo feel good song about losing yourself in the presence of someone who makes everything feel right. I hope people can feel and relate to it.”
Despite a challenging treatment plan that included a tonsillectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation, and the intensive recovery that followed, Hook took his diagnosis in stride. In fall 2023, he returned to the studio to contribute to a charity cover of Wham’s “Last Christmas” with Virginia To Vegas & Friends, benefiting the Canadian Cancer Society. Shortly after learning of his remission, he proposed to his girlfriend and inspired by his experiences, Hook began writing what would ultimately come to be the forthcoming EP.
Raised in rural British Columbia, Hook began his musical journey by studying piano, eventually signing his first songwriting deal with ABC / Session 5 Music. He gained recognition writing and producing music for TV shows like “Eli Stone,” “Greek,” and “Samurai Girl,” and his song “She Could Be You” featured prominently in the series “Kyle XY.” Hook’s work has earned him a global audience, with hits like the multi-platinum “Sound of Your Heart” and “Reminding Me” featuring Vanessa Hudgens, multiple JUNO Award nominations, and the Allan Slaight Music Impact Honour. With the release of “Bigger Than The Night,” and today’s release of “Magic,” Hook embarks on a new chapter, both personally and professionally, with even more exciting moments still on the horizon.
