IVY GARDENS New Video For Title Track From Upcoming Album “Goon” Is A Belligerently, Grungy Good Time. Canadian Tour Dates (ON, QC, NB, NS, PEI) New Album “Goon” Out April 2024
Born on a quiet street named Ivy Gardens Crescent, Ivy Gardens emerged from humble beginnings with an unwavering passion for creating music that resonates with raw energy and volume. Originally formed under a different name, the band, hailing from Niagara, Ontario, Canada, underwent a transformative journey. In 2020, fueled by their collective experiences as young musicians, Ivy Gardens took root and blossomed into a force to be reckoned with. With an EP already under their belts, they are gearing up to release their new album Goon on April 19. Ahead of this release, they are premiering the title track, which they comment on:
“Goon is a song that was written with the intention of being both rhythmically intricate, but ultimately danceable. Where the verses are filled with screaming lyrics from the point of view of a struggling addict, the chorus takes a more melodic approach, as the person in question experiences the ecstasy that comes with getting their fix. This song is filled with sonic surprises, and we hope it serves as a sweet release for all those “goons” out there.”
To support this album, Ivy Gardens will be embarking on a tour through Eastern Canada (dates listed below) and each stop promises to be a rip-roaring good time. One of their gigs is typically 30 to 40 unbroken minutes of high-energy, heavy-hitting music at a crushing volume. Beaten-to-hell drums, throbbing bass synth, searing organ, and a liquid wall of guitar sludge. One song flows immediately into the next.
Ivy Gardens wastes no time, gets the audience involved, and provides an immersive, belligerent, good time full of sweat, sludge, and grunge. They are recommended for fans of Truckfighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Nirvana.
“Goon” is out April 19th, 2024, and available for album pre-order HERE.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We are Ivy Gardens, a stoner rock/metal band from Niagara, Ontario, Canada. As young musicians, we played together for years and officially formed Ivy Gardens in 2020 with a new focus and mission statement. Huge volume, high energy, and the heaviest possible riffs we could hammer people’s heads with. Over the past few years, we’ve been writing, recording, and producing many singles, some creative covers, an EP, and now a full Record, while also touring across Ontario and the east coast of Canada. We’re an independent band with a specific vision for our music, and almost everything we do is driven by a DIY ethos that puts a lot on our shoulders but allows us to create and present our art exactly how we want it.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
As of writing this, our most recent release is called “Boner”. It’s our very own feel-good hit of the summer, has some of the heaviest stuff we’ve written, and it’s been making people mosh and headbang hard at live shows for almost a year now. It’s great to finally get the record out. The track was accompanied by a very sleek music video filmed out in the fog of rural Niagara, Ontario, as well as a dingey, dirty garage near Toronto.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
April 20th, we are having our release show at Warehouse Concert Hall in St. Catharnies. This is going to be a big show with some sick bands. We will be performing the album in its entirety, and some extra special tunes as well. Going to be a great night.
On top of that, we are also touring the whole month of May to support the release of the album. This will take us across Ontario, Quebec, and almost all of the East Coast of Canada. We plan on being the loudest band to have ever played every single venue we visit.
If given the chance, which Canadian artist would you love to work with in the future?
Neil Young would be amazing to collaborate with. He’s the greatest Canadian artist of all time. Pure legend.
What’s your goal for 2024?
We hope our album Goon can get out there into as many ears as possible. We plan to keep our momentum, work on new material, and test it out on the road. More short tours out of different scenes we’d love to be a part of. We ain’t stopping anytime soon.
