Nick Wisdom & AstroLogical of Potatohead People release the second single, “Keepin’ It Kool” from their upcoming album, Eat Your Heart Out, out May 10 on Bastard Jazz Recordings.
Opening with swinging drums, a Bill Withers-esque guitar lick, and an earworm of a hook sung by the PP, the song opens up into beautiful R&B vocals from Vancouver’s Kendra Dias. Lyrically the song touches on two common & paradoxical relationship angles–thinking someone is playing it cool, while that person is only playing it cool to see the same interest back. Lovely string arrangements, classic organ, and throwback musical change-ups turn the song into pure magic.
