MÉTIS ARTIST ELECTRIC RELIGIOUS ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM, PREVIEWS WITH “GOOD BREAD” SINGLE + VIDEO

Métis artist Brandon Baker, known as Electric Religious, announces the release of his highly anticipated album The Taste, set for July 26 on the Indigenous-owned label, Red Music Rising. The announcement comes with the release of the lead track “Good Bread” and music video.

Drawing inspiration from Daft Punk, Chaka Khan, and Harry Styles, this new collection boldly blends pop, rock, and funk into what Baker playfully calls “Métis Disco”.

“This album embodies the eclectic energy and vibrant sound I’ve always wanted to explore,” says Baker. “The Taste is a celebration of my roots and a push into uncharted musical territory.”

The album’s first single, “Good Bread,” is a pop/funk tune that was inspired by Baker’s experimentation with breadmaking during the pandemic.

“Like so many folks, I got really into making sourdough when I had extra time at home. Homemade bread is honestly one of the most sensual things to experience… once you’ve tasted it, you can’t go back.”

The album promises to be a sonic treat, featuring legendary guests like Omar Hakim (David Bowie, Sting), Kenny Arnoff (John Mellencamp), and Riwo Egor (Melafrique). Electric Religious’ unique sound has already garnered attention, with two singles reaching the CBC Searchlight Top 100 and his album “Tragic Lover” earning a spot in CKUA’s Top Albums of the Year. His talent was further recognized with a “Métis Artist of the Year” nomination at the Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Awards.
