Half Moon Run Releases “Can’t Stop Loving You” Live From The Treehouse

Half Moon Run To Play L’Appel Montréal Festival Confirmed For May 30

Montreal’s Half Moon Run offers up another mesmerizing, live-off-the-floor performance, of “Can’t Stop Loving You.” Captured as a part of their creative dispatches back to the Treehouse Studio, “Can’t Stop Loving You” beckons you to run and doublecheck the track listing for the band’s 2023 album, Salt, as sonically, it may have lived amiably at home there, yet found itself cut from the release for a curious reason.

“’Can’t Stop Loving You’ was written during the final songwriting sessions for our latest record, Salt,” notes Conner Molander. “When we’re in the studio, we like to declare songs as ‘a lock’ when we feel that, come hell or high water, they just gotta be on the record. This song enjoyed ‘lock’ status for a good while, and the reason we left it off the LP has nothing to do with how much we like it (and yes, I am tacitly admitting that we do flip-flop on our precious ‘locks’…endlessly, in fact). You’ll notice that this track is stylistically a step outside the other material on Salt…it’s more joyful!”

Treehouse Studio is an idyllic escape just an hour north of Montreal and a significant retreat for Half Moon Run who recorded much of Salt there with producer and studio owner, Conner Seidel. In August 2023 the band released their live cover of Fred again.. and Nigerian-born singer Obongjayar’s collab-track “adore u.” They have also released the captivating, live take of “9beat.”

A limited-edition offering of Salt on sand-coloured vinyl is available in addition to standard black vinyl, both are available here.

Devon Portielje (lead vocals, guitar), Conner Molander (backing vocals, guitar, keys), and Dylan Phillips (backing vocals, drums, piano) have collectively made Half Moon Run internationally renowned for their captivating, and dynamic live shows. They are a multi-Juno-Award-winning trio and now, they are curating their own music festival and live music experience in their hometown of Montreal this spring.

As previously announced by Evenko, Half Moon Run will be hosting and playing “L’Appel Montréal,” a one-day festival taking place at Olympic Park on May 30, 2024. After fourteen years working together, the band is looking forward to expanding into the realm of curation, in this case specifically for the sake of their beloved hometown fans. Every element of the festival will be carefully considered by the band and their team to provide a unique and exciting experience for everyone involved. Co-headlining with Half Moon Run will be Men I Trust, a dream lineup for Canadian indie fans! Further acts will be announced and more details will be announced soon. L’Apel Montréal tickets and festival details are available HERE.
