Jordan John Shares Debut Single, “Walking Away”

Bowmanville, Ontario-based 22-year-old singer-songwriter Jordan John has unveiled his debut single, “Walking Away.”

The single is beautifully written by Jordan, and influenced by Lewis Capaldi, Dermot Kennedy, and Noah Kahan, to name a few. The single is accompanied by captivating vocals, incredible melodies, stunning harmonies, and heartfelt, emotional lyrics.

First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Jordan John, I’m 22 years old, I live in a small town in Ontario Canada called Bowmanville and I make music.

Tell us a bit about your recent release.

I wrote my new song Walking Away right after finding out my girlfriend at the time, had been sleeping with someone else. The song reflects the struggles I went through in my mind. Fighting between staying, because I had worked so hard to fix myself, and be good for her knowing what she did wasn’t something I shouldn’t be around, but I stayed anyways. She kept coming back and leaving, but that is all long gone now.

How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?

I typically write music when I’m feeling a lot of emotions at once that I don’t know how to process. Music has become my main outlet for expressing my feelings that I would otherwise have trouble talking about. When I start to feel strongly about something, whether that’s positive or negative emotions, I take that energy, I sit down and I just start to write down my thoughts in what almost starts as poetry and piece by piece, change things as I go, to fit the melody and create a cohesive project.

Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?

We have many plans to support this release after it comes out, we are currently working on a music video, as well as some merch that will be available shortly after release. We have possible plans for shows so make sure you’re staying up to date on all the new updates to come in the next few months.

Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?

I have been making music for a very long time and singing for even longer. I grew up singing in church and took vocal lessons throughout high school, I helped my friends with their music projects, whether it was filming music videos, designing cover art, and promotional materials, or just being a part of the creative writing sessions. All that really inspired me to start writing my own music, but I didn’t have the confidence to do so. Two years ago I wrote a song called “All I’ve Done” and had many people waiting for it to be released. I even teased the release for a few weeks, and ultimately got too scared and let life take over. It wasn’t until I met my manager Mike Pupunkoski (Pup Management) that I was able to find the confidence in myself and in my music, he has pushed me to be better, pushed me to break out of my comfort zone and put myself out there a little more than I used to and I’m beyond thankful for that. If it wasn’t for him this song probably wouldn’t have been released for a few years but now I’ve got an e.p on the way with an album following as shortly after as possible, and I couldn’t be more excited!

Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?

Like I said earlier, I grew up working on music with some amazing musicians. We all work hard to promote each other’s music as well as our own because they, and we deserve it. I wouldn’t be here without them, so I recommend checking out Skyler Zayne (lnkfi.re/skylerzaynemusic) and Jorke (https://www.instagram.com/jelaniyorke), they’ve been in the music game a lot longer and deserve more attention than they’re getting
