Comeback Kid Shares New Single & Video, “Disruption” & Announce Extensive Tour
Canadian hardcore punk rock heavyweights, Comeback Kid are today sharing “Disruption”, the second single to be taken from their anticipated forthcoming EP Trouble, which will be released on March 15, 2024, via New Damage Records in Canada.
Poised to be a festival sing-along favourite with its driving rhythms and addictive melodies, “Disruption” follows the dynamic, infectious, tongue-in-cheek lead single “Trouble In The Winner’s Circle”.
Speaking about the new track, lead vocalist Andrew Neufeld shares,
“Disruption” serves as our Call To Arms type song. The continuous rhythm pounding throughout the track that never really gives in, we met with a pace of urgency. Early AFI influences popped out as we were writing this, and we embraced that!. It’s about just getting through the next day, or the next step because it could all come crashing down at any given moment.”
Alongside the latest single drop, Comeback Kid are thrilled to announce an extensive Canadian tour in support of their forthcoming EP. The 17-date cross-Canada tour will kick off in Halifax at the Seahorse Tavern on March 20th and will wrap up on April 11th at The Pearl in Vancouver. Tickets for the tour will go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, February 7th at 10 am local time. Joining Comeback Kid as direct support is Bay Area hardcore punk rippers, Spy. Spy will hop on the tour in Quebec City on March 22nd and will remain as direct support until the last show in Vancouver. For a complete list of Canadian tour dates, please see below.
Produced and recorded by the band and John Paul Peters (Cancer Bats, Propagandhi) at Private Ear Recording in the band’s hometown of Winnipeg, the Trouble EP is a testament to Comeback Kid’s unwavering commitment to pushing forward on their own terms. One of Exclaim’s ‘most anticipated Canadian releases of 2024’, on their latest EP, Comeback Kid set out to create an almost palette cleanser from past material, leaning more upbeat, but still carrying the hard-hitting aggression they’re known for. With mixing and mastering from Grammy award-winning mixer and long-time fan of the band Will Putney (Knocked Loose, Every Time I Die), you can hear the layers and depth of sound the band carved out in every track on the release.
Originating in Winnipeg, MB, and first gaining recognition with their 2002 demo and the acclaimed Turn It Around in 2003, Comeback Kid has consistently balanced a DIY ethos and dependability with a humanitarian approach, breaking down hardcore boundaries and elevating the genre to a global stage. Career-defining album Wake The Dead launched the band to new heights in 2005, and 2007 found Andrew Neufeld taking over vocal duties on the band’s third full-length, Broadcasting. Giving hardcore notoriety across the world, Comeback Kid released four albums between 2011-2022, the latest being the critically acclaimed Heavy Steps. With the upcoming release of their Trouble EP and a packed touring schedule, 2024 is set to be another standout year for the five-piece.
