Canadian country singer-songwriter JoJo Mason captivates audiences once again with his latest rock-infused single “Toxic”
On January 19, award-winning country star JoJo Mason released his poignant rock-country song that delves into themes of inner turmoil and self-destruction, “Toxic,” via 604 Records / Warner Music Canada on all streaming platforms. “Toxic” marks Mason’s latest release following his EP Sky Full Of Stars (2021)and showcases his continued commitment to authenticity and emotional storytelling.
“Toxic” was written by Mason and produced by multi-award-winning songwriter and producer and Ryan Stead. It ventures in a new direction for Mason with a guitar-forward rock edge in the production and chorus punctuated with orchestral strings that highlight his signature raspy vocals in the mid-tempo ballad. The emotive narrative unfolds with a vulnerability that invites the listener to be lost in the heavy emotions.

“There are certain songs that can impact your life in different ways. For me, this one hits different. I don’t normally find my creativity from a dark place but when I was really going through it, I managed to do just that. I woke up, one night from a panic attack fueled by self-doubt and self-hatred, and just started writing everything I was feeling. Took it to one of my closest friends, Ryan Stead, and he helped me bring this song to life. I hope people listen to this and know that if they’re feeling messed up, that’s ok, they’re not alone.”
