Lola Kristine Shares Double Single, “chapter three: into the woods”
Lola Kristine is a singer, pianist, and songwriter based in Laguna Beach, California. Known as “the little girl with the big voice,” Lola has been staggering audiences her whole life with the depth of soul she possesses in both her timeless songwriting and penetrating singing. Hearing her sing feeds your soul and reconnects you with what is right in the world.
After years of running from herself into the arms of others, Lola had no other option but to dive into her own darkness. To explore the wildness of her soul. “Chapter three” is a reclamation.
She reconnects with her roots and inner child as she howls out the dark rock anthem, “Find Me in the Wilderness.” This song is a commitment to herself to keep uncovering, digging, and facing her hidden demons until she is released from the chains. I will not be afraid because I know the sun will rise again.
Through this process of rediscovering the fierce power within, the lion is then fully unleashed in “Living for Myself.” This song is a mantra for all people, especially women, who are ready to break away from old models and live life on their own terms.
First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Lola Kristine. I’m originally from heartland of America but I now live in Southern California. Making music is my medicine and sharing it is my ministry.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
My newest release is the 3rd segment of a larger album project entitled CHAPTERS. I’ve been dropping this record one chapter at a time for the past few months. The album tells the story of my personal evolution through love and heartbreak with each chapter’s theme representing a stage of my journey. This release, Chapter Three: Into the Woods, is about returning home to the depths of your wild soul to reclaim your own voice and power. It’s gritty, rocking, bluesy, fierce, and a little bit country.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
Usually, a song comes tapping on my shoulder or banging at the door when it is ready to be written. Then I run to the piano, grab my phone to start recording, and play, letting the chords, words, and melodies flow out. A lot of times I don’t know what the song is about right away. The story and meaning emerge as I go along. Often the lyrics reveal what I’m feeling on a deeper level. Songwriting is like therapy for me. It’s like I get to dance with God, letting the source of creative energy lead the way.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
Oh yes! I’m working with my team right now to book some tour dates on the West Coast and in the Midwest. I’ll also be releasing a few epic music videos in the coming months along with the rest of the album.
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
I’d say a major turning point was when I started pursuing my original music career again in 2015. I had gotten into the game of making money playing cover gigs and had put my artist self on the back burner for a while. Then I decided to really shift gears and put my energy towards doing original shows with my own band and recording my music. Ever since then, I’ve been learning more about who I am as an artist.
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
Ooh, great question! I have so many but I’d like to recommend two dear friends of mine to check out: Nick Sabia and Anna Ballew.
