Pony Girl Release New Video/Single “Laura”, Taken From Latest LP, Laff It Off
Pony Girl released their newest album, Laff It Off in the fall of 2023 on Paper Bag Records. It serves as a companion, and a coin flip to the group’s 2022 debut with Paper Bag (their third album, overall), Enny One Wil Love You. Laff It Off urges you to let go, a playful departure from the shade of its sister album Enny One Wil Love You.
Pony Girl has revealed their latest video for the ambient album track “Laura.” Shot in PEI by the group’s own Pascal Huot. The track is highlighted by saxophone and mood-setting ethereal swells. In the video, the character is reliving a traumatic road accident.
“We expanded that idea into an ambient cinematic track,” Pascal details. “Laura loved to drive. The rolling hills, the winding roads, and open fields. After a car accident, we get a glimpse of their day-to-day life. Scenes from the past, and memories, collide with the present. Laura now spends most of their time with Sara, a caregiver. The support is subtle, accompanying Laura in the mundane activities of daily living. A trip to the store, a quiet lunch, a sunset on the stoop.”
“Laura” joins previous singles “Wannabe”, “Highways”, “I Believe In Nothing” and title track, “Laff It Off.”
Pony Girl will play some select winter music events including Wintersong Music Festival in Stouffville, the BIG Winter Classic in Calgary, and Winterruption in Edmonton this month. They then play two Ottawa shows with a special, to-be-announced show in Toronto for March. All announced dates are listed below and tickets are available here.
