FIRST UP WITH RBCXMUSIC FEATURES BLACK CANADIAN TALENT

Sage Harris is a Toronto-based R&B artist who has made waves in the music scene since he was 15 years old. Now at 27, Sage is a musician, songwriter and producer. He has grown his musical empire through the use of music videos, self-directing, editing, producing, and choreographing each one. He recently completed a high school tour across Ontario to get face-to-face with his fanbase.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Sage Harris. I’m the male Rihanna. You never know what the next record is going to sound like. 

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

The title “100 BPM” arose from the acronym “BPM” meaning “beats per minute” which stems from a term used to understand the measurement of tempo in relation to music. Sage uses the term 100 BPM to help listeners understand the pace in which his heartbeat, movements, and intentions progress through the song in his waltz to pursue a woman who arrived with someone else but feels she should be leaving with him. The song is also in 100 BPM’s

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

The inspiration either comes from real-life experiences or my point of view on something someone else has gone through.

Congratulations on being a Featured Artist in the First Up with RBCxMusic program! Can you tell us a little bit about the program?

RBCxMusic allows artists like myself to be put in rooms and given tools to aid in the progress of our careers. The team at RBCxMusic is awesome and they genuinely care.

What are some benefits you’ve taken advantage of through the program?

The RBC team has helped me in front and behind the scenes. From connecting me with DTBY and turning that into a high school tour to opening for the Black Eyed Peas.

What’s your goal for 2023?

My goal is to get my US visa and do more shows across North America.
