Toronto’s Wasting Time Shares New Single, “Coffee Break”

Wasting Time is a four-piece melodic punk band from Toronto, Canada influenced by greats like Alkaline Trio, No Use For a Name, MxPx, Blink-182, Green Day, and MXPX.

The band has been active since 2017 having released three EPs, several singles, and 2 full-length albums. An upcoming EP entitled, Chainsaw Dynamos will be released by Disconnect Disconnect Records and Steady Riot in the fall of 2023 with a third album to follow in early 2024.

Having toured both the west coast and the east coast of Canada, playing Pouzza Fest 2022, CMW 2023 and sharing the stage with Smoking Popes, Young Rochelles & Crush Luther, the band is now gearing up for an upcoming tour of Japan in the fall and now a brand new single, “Coffee Break.”

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

We’re a ragtag quartet of Torontonians who collectively love to play melodic punk while trolling each other constantly. Vlad sings and plays guitar, Mike plays bass, Mark plays lead guitar, and Nick drums.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

Coffee Break is our latest single off of our upcoming EP, Chainsaw Dynamos to be released by Disconnect Disconnect Records and Steady Riot Records. It was inspired by the joy one feels when ingesting their first cup of coffee of the day. The song was produced, mixed, and mastered by Matt Gauthier at Arc Recording Studio and This Place Needs A Name in Hamilton.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

We’re just about to head over to Japan at the end of the month for shows in Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Yokokama, Kofu, and Tokyo. Our next show back from tour is in Toronto on November 18^th at Sneaky Dee’s with Mixed Signal, Spring Colours, and Moodieboy.

If given the chance, which Canadian artist would you love to work with in the future?

Carly Rae Jepsen – she has a great voice and might be able to help us improve our dance moves on stage.

What’s your goal for 2024?

Release our third album, tour as much as possible and…the same thing we do every night, try to take over the world!
