Juno-nominated Group Indian City Share New Single, “Good People” In Honour Of Truth & Reconciliation Day
The JUNO-nominated group Indian City has shared their new single “Good People.” The track is a pay-it-forward themed song featuring vocals by Kelly Bado, who immigrated from the Ivory Coast of Africa, Black/Indigenous folk singer Julian Taylor, and Gabrielle Fontaine, daughter of the late Vince Fontaine – the founding member of Indian City.
Atomic Ranch Records is a new label started by Vince’s lifelong friend and musical partner Chris Burke-Gaffney, alongside Jason Petric. The label is also set to release records by up-and-coming Metis/Country artists Catie St Germain and Daniel Desorcy. “Good People” is the first track under Atomic Ranch Records’ exclusive distribution deal with ADA Canada / Warner Music Canada.
“Vince was an advocate for the Truth & Reconciliation call to action bill – recommending Indigenous and Non-Indigenous artists work together – years before the bill was even put forward,” says Burke-Gaffney. “He taught me a great deal about a culture I could completely relate to and he was a mentor, as well as a friend. Having his daughter Gabrielle continue what Vince started just seems so right. We plan on using the lessons and inspiration Vince left to carry on what he pioneered. ‘Good People’ is the perfect anthem for Truth & Reconciliation Day as it poetically captures the genuine spirit of people helping people.”
