Tim Baker Shares New Single + Video For “Pilgrims” From New EP Along The Mountain Road, Out October 20, 2023
Due out almost a year to the day his latest LP, The Festival, was released in 2022, Tim Baker recently announced his new EP, Along The Mountain Road (companion to The Festival) would be released, on October 20, 2023 (End Times Music).
Tim has shared another track from the forthcoming EP with “Pilgrims”, alongside a video featuring his fellow pilgrims and touring band ‘All Hands’ – another heartwarming video from Tim acknowledging the contribution and support of all those around him on his musical journey, or pilgrimage.
“The song is sort of about being born in the wrong time – feeling more spiritual and religious than our modern, rational, digital reality encourages,” says Tim. “It’s about feeling close to sweetness, ease, goodness, enlightenment even, but always being pulled away from it by reality – specifically the reality of the climate crisis and our inability to fix it, ignore it, or find some deeper meaning in it beyond senseless destruction. It also speaks to my life as a traveller, a searcher, someone who is always leaving, always reaching for something, but never quite seems to arrive and find it. But somehow still has hope and keeps going.”
Tim will embark on a two-month tour this fall, in an evening of songs, stories, stripped-back, and solo performances across Canada in support of, Along The Mountain Road.
Tickets will be on sale this Friday, September 22 @ 10 am local time. After two select ON plays next week, shows will start in November out West with support from Matt Holubowksi and December plays featuring support from Haley Heynderickx. The venues range from theatres, halls, playhouses, and culture centres, and include two nights at TD Hall at Massey Hall on December 8 + 9, a venue Tim has frequented.
