JJ Shiplett Basks In BC’s Golden Hour For “Already There” Official Video
Singer-songwriter JJ Shiplett shares the brand new video for his current single “Already There.” Filmed at Pitt-Addington Park in beautiful British Columbia during golden hour – director Vishal Marapon perfectly captures JJ’s smoldering intensity (which JJ jokingly says he “almost” has) – belting out the heartfelt lyrics while basking in the stunning scenery.
The new track was produced by Jay Stewart and came out on May 12th via Red Buffalo Records under the exclusive license of Jayward Artist Group (distributed by The Orchard).
“Vishal was able to make me look really cool while singing in pretend slow motion, wearing a white t-shirt, and playing the guitar in the back of a pickup truck. Hah!” JJ adds, “I had a blast filming it and am so happy to share a video that feels like the perfect companion to my new single.”
JJ is thrilled to announce his new relationship with Indie Publisher of the Year (CMW), Arts & Crafts Music Publishing, and they share in his excitement.
Amy Eligh, Director of Publishing & Licensing, says,
“A&C is ecstatic to have JJ join our publishing roster. We’re excited to see where his talent as both a songwriter and artist will take him, and we are honoured he has chosen us to partner with on this journey!”

Calling JJ Shiplett a force of nature might be considered hyperbole to those who haven’t heard the singer perform live, but for anyone who has, it fits the bill just right. He is a Roots Americana singer, writer, musician, and storyteller – who always leaves a lasting impression on listeners with his gruff and powerful voice. Few musicians can capture a person’s attention by way of song as effortlessly as Shiplett does.
Having a rare ability to connect with audiences using his soulful and vast vocal range, the singer first made his mark on the national music scene in 2017 with his CCMA-nominated debut album, Something to Believe In. JJ returned with a CCMA-nominated sophomore record in March 2020, Fingers Crossed, an album that further showcased his ability to captivate through contemplative songwriting. In August 2020, Shiplett released a stripped-down mirror version of his sophomore album, called Crossed Fingers, which featured the bonus song “Bluejay Highway.” In September 2022, he released his first song in 2 years, “A Different Kind of Light.” The track is a powerful, cinematic ballad that firmly planted him into the Americana genre, the space that this singer/songwriter feels most at home inhabiting.
Last summer, he toured with the critically acclaimed musician Michael Bernard Fitzgerald on his ‘Farm Tour 2’ erecting ambiently lit performance tents in farmer fields across Western Canada. He also performed a sold-out show at the prestigious Studio Bell in Calgary’s National Music Centre. JJ is currently working in Vancouver with producer Jay Stewart on his 4th studio album, which will include the lead single “Already There,” and recently signed a publishing deal with Indie Publisher of the Year (Canada) Arts & Crafts.
