Laur Elle Announces Debut Album, Delayed Reaction, Out October 13, 2023
After trickling out new music through the spring and summer, Laur Elle is thrilled to unveil the details of her eagerly-awaited debut album, Delayed Reaction. Set for release on October 13, the 10-song collection stunningly highlights Laur Elle’s songwriting prowess, showcasing her gorgeous airy vocals, grounded lyrics, and lush indie-pop sound. Creating the perfect vehicle for escapism, Delayed Reaction is the ideal soundtrack for running (or, more appropriately, driving) away from your problems.
As a singer-songwriter who has always been enamoured by the power of words, Laur Elle is a true multi-talented self-starter through and through. The breakthrough LA-based (by way of Alberta, Canada) artist uses her music to process her own emotions, with a musical vision that is intrinsically tied to her own voice. After time as an internationally competitive gymnast for the Canadian national team, Laur Elle immersed herself in the creative community and has quickly proven that while poetry was her artistic starting point, music is truly her calling. Writing is her escape, and she’s ready to offer the same kind of solace to her listeners with Delayed Reaction.
“This album is an emotional road trip that mirrors my real-life experience packing up and moving from Canada to LA after a breakup,” Laur Elle reflects. “Each song is a metaphorical stop along the way. Many memories were made, mistakes were inevitable, and long hours in the car spent reflecting led to some of my favourite songs I’ve ever written. The record starts at the end with a ‘what the heck did I just do to my life’ moment. It then takes you back to the start where everything began. Each song is a memory and an integral part of the journey. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am now in a brand new city, releasing my debut album.”
The Delayed Reaction road trip has been brought to life over the past few months with the release of “Burning Out,” “The Man,” “Easy Way Out,” and “The Morning Song,” all of which have been accompanied by cinematic, interconnected music videos. With the album announcement, Laur Elle shared the new single, “Lost Cause” – a bright and energetic pop hit in the making, tinged with indie-rock guitar riffs and a driving beat.
