Last night, The Chicks, formerly known as the Dixie Chicks took their World Tour to a packed Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC.
The Chicks brought American singer-songwriter, Maren Morris, as a support act. Sadly, we missed her.
A little before 9 p.m., Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire, and Emily Strayer opened with the song “Gaslighter” from their 2020 album. The giant screen surrounding the stage showed animated bits and old clips to accompany the 22-song setlist. The Chicks performed hits like “Not Ready To Make Nice” and “Cowboy Take Me Away” that launched the crowd into a loud singalong.
Over 20 years ago, The (Dixie) Chicks went from being one of the most successful country acts of all time to having their CDs burned for having criticized the Iraq War. Last night showed that their unapologetic progressive views are no longer an issue with the general audience and have become a strength.
The Chicks will be in many cities in Canada until September 18th so be sure to catch them before they leave for their down-under tour!
