The Beach Bats

Hamilton, Ontario’s The Beach Bats Unveil Their Album, Limbo

The Beach Bats were formed sometime in the summer of 2016 by Chelsea White and Tony Doni in Hamilton, Ontario.

On their debut full-length offering, Last Resort, The Beach Bats push their sonic limits and engage audiences with lush arrangements, vocal dexterity and innovative guitar playing indicative of their relentless work ethic.

They currently exist and perform as a power trio (Tony Doni- Vocals, Bass, Keyboards. Chelsea White- Guitars, Backing Vocals. Gabriel Bitti- Percussion).

The band released their sophomore LP Limbo on August 4th, 2023, featuring seven tracks, including their single, the title track, “Limbo.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

We are The Beach Bats, a power trio from Hamilton, ON specializing in taking your work-induced fatigue and drowsiness and refocusing that energy into states of heightened alertness, higher alcohol tolerance, and better dance ability. On August, 4th 2023, we released our second record, Limbo, and are currently embarking on a small tour to support this effort. Chelsea, Gabriel, and I have been playing together in this group and in others for over ten years, and our music reflects a deep sonic connection that can only be developed through constant performance and fearless musical exploration. Our music can be loosely defined as rock music but is influenced by jazz, soul, funk, fusion, metal, and more.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

Limbo is the culmination of three long years of writing, recording, and tanning. The record is composed of 7 songs that offer the listener a variety of experiences while maintaining the flow of a cohesive collection of music. Some songs reflect moments of joy, and others moments of destruction. We hope the audience will find this emotional breadth rewarding, challenging, and most of all refreshing. Inspiration often pulls us in different directions at once, however, we have been playing together for so long that we are able to indulge in these tangents rather than shy away from them. The record is available on all streaming services, CD and limited edition, coloured vinyl.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Lyrically, the songs can be snapshots of moments in time. Moments as fleeting as a second or as broad as a span of years can be distilled into a single song. At other times, writing is just a way of working out a more abstract thought or mental state I happen to be going through. Sometimes they are stories I imagine. Musically, our ears guide us. As a group, we listen to such a diverse range of music that this inevitably spills into our own. 60’s Italian Film music to Slamming Brutal Death Metal. It’s all in there somewhere. We aren’t afraid to explore this territory, even when we don’t know what to call the end result. Is it rock music? You tell me.
