BC’s Jordan Klassen Returns With New Single, “Cocoon”
Today, revered singer-songwriter and producer, Jordan Klassen, reveals his brand new single, “Cocoon.” His first release since his 2022 album, Glossolalia, “Cocoon” offers a sneak peek of new music that will be trickled out through the rest of the year.
A groove-filled and atmospheric folk-pop song, “Cocoon” is highlighted by crescendoing strings, plucky acoustic guitar, and a sprinkling of glitchy electronic notes that take on an almost otherworldly tone, as Klassen coolly sings of love and vulnerability.
He shares,
“Cocoon is about the tension between finding a home in love and the overwhelming fear and anxiety that comes from the uncertainty of vulnerability.”
“Cocoon” follows Klassen’s most recent album – Glossolalia – which was recorded during the pandemic mostly without a studio, or much fuss, and could probably best be described as a blessing in disguise. The singer-songwriter and producer from Vancouver mostly withdrew in order to write and record the album in the summer of 2020, composing its 10 tracks with just vocals and guitar, creating a subtly blossoming collection of songs that perhaps nails Klassen’s “fairy folk for troubled times” approach better than ever before.
Jordan Klassen has once again reinvented himself, impressively demonstrating his ability to evoke an incredibly deep poetic experience with truly minimal means. And because he is a master of taking this to the stage, his upcoming performances are a must-see for all those not willing to give up on dreaming just yet.
With more new music soon on the horizon, 2023 is shaping up to be another transformative year for Jordan Klassen.
