Kicking off the Canada Day show was Billianne, a singer-songwriter from Ontario. The 20-year-old went viral on TikTok in 2022 with a cover of a cover, the version of Tina Turner’s “Simply The Best” that Noah Reid (Patrick) performed on the CBC show Schitt’s Creek. While the crowd was still filling into the street, she had a few dedicated fans at the barricade for her full set, cheering her on, but the rest of the street was attentively listening to her great set.
Next up was Half Moon Run. I hadn’t heard much of their music before but I’ve been told great things about them and specifically their live shows. I noticed a lot of people wearing their merchandise and huddled at the barricade early. Of course, they were all singing along to every song as well. After their set, the band met with their fans, chatting and taking pictures, for 20 minutes or more.
Local favourite Tim Baker headlined the night. When you are going to see Tim you know you are in for a fantastic show and this was no exception. His songs are perfect for an outdoor concert like this one and he always has an incredible band backing him up.
