Chris LaRocca Releases Suave Summer Single, “like u” Ahead of New EP
This past spring, Chris LaRocca hit the ground running with his punchy, eccentric 4-track EP perhaps!, which set the tone for the year ahead of him. Now, heading into the summer, Chris is back again with a brand new single leading up to his second EP of 2023 titled “like u”.
With sunkissed guitar, ethereal vocal harmonies, and a critically catchy chorus, “like u” explores the feeling of being unsure in a relationship. The song’s drumline centres the song like a heartbeat, carrying the soundscape through pulsating peaks and intimate valleys. Sonically warm and lyrically sombre, the song the perfect soundtrack for hot summer days lounging in the sunlight.
“like u” is just another medal in Chris’ 2023 winning streak so far. Chris’ upcoming project is the second part in a 2-EP rollout leading to his debut album under Red Bull Records and Wondagirl’s new label Wonderchild. Additionally, Chris has accumulated even more production credits under his belt since the spring, such as with his work on the new comeback from K-Pop boy group Stray Kids. With his music, production, and undeniable talent, 2023 is the year of Chris LaRocca.
LaRocca shares,
“‘like u’ is a song about selfishness in relationships. It was inspired by a short-lived long distance relationship I was involved in at a confusing time in my life – I didn’t put forth much effort to make it work but stuck it out for selfish reasons, and ended up being emotionally unavailable to my partner in times where she needed me the most. We would break up, and I would come back around with promises of being different that I never lived up to. Because of the distance and all of these ups and downs, we ended up going our separate ways, but this song is an ode to the back and forth I experienced mentally while trying to figure out what I really wanted.”
