Sappyfest 18 announces additional performers and series of interactive projects and exhibits 

After unveiling a sneak peek at their lineup earlier this spring, Sappyfest 18 expands their programming announcing the latest slate of musicians, performers, artists, and experiences

These additions include AquakultreCaged AnimalsFiver, and the Atlanticks Official, and Shotgun Jimmie, who join previously announced acts By Divine RightFlourLove LanguageMother TonguesNico PauloSluice, and Witch Prophet.

Sappyfest 18 is also set to feature a series of interactive projects and exhibits throughout the weekend. 

Love Songs to End Colonization by Tahltan Nation artist Peter Morin & interdisciplinary artist Jimmie Kilpatrick (aka Shotgun Jimmie) repurposes popular love songs to dismantle and confront settler colonialism by inviting participants to perform these songs, karaoke style, and contribute to this collective project of singing. Presented in partnership with Struts Gallery.  

Untitled Peter Tripp Project is a sprawling performance piece that will take place live before an audience at Struts Gallery. In 1959, DJ Peter Tripp broadcast for 201 hours without sleep from a booth in Times Square, breaking a world record while sacrificing his own grip on reality. Johanna BundonJayden Pfeifer, and Lee Henderson, the summer Struts Artists in Residence, perform strange fragments of narrative with Tripp’s publicity stunt as their springboard, exploring desperation, fame, hallucination, exhaustion, the connective promise of pop music, and the absent body of the radio broadcaster. Presented in partnership with Struts Gallery.  

High Integrity Interval Training with Aquakultre, Fiver & Nathan Doucet brings the expertise of a combined 20 years doing diverse video workouts to guide participants through a one-hour workout set to original electronic music. The Saturday morning HITT fitness regiment takes place at the Chester Cole Memorial Ball Field and is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.

It’s Always Nice to Come Home is a retrospective exhibition of film photographs taken at Sappyfest over the course of several years presented by photographer Matt Horseman. The collection will debut at Sappyfest 18.

Jadyn Klassen of Winnipeg, MB is Sappyfest 18’s visual artist and is creating all of the festival visuals including the lineup poster, merch, and the Bridge Street tent backdrop.

Uniting musicians, writers, dancers, filmmakers, thinkers, question makers, collaborators, and creatives of all manner, Sappyfest 18 takes place in Sackville, New Brunswick from August 04-06.
