Halifax’s KILMORE Unearth The Realities In Life Through New EP From the Inside

Following their East Coast Music Award-nominated 2015 EP City Lights, and 2018 LP Call of the Void, which won the 2019 ECMA “Loud Recording of the Year”, Halifax, Canada’s Kilmore has recently released their latest offering, the new EP From the Inside produced by Jon Landry (The Stanfields). The record features six tracks of groovy, stoner rock with metal elements that can be strongly felt in the band’s two music videos “Tempest” and “Firestone” released ahead of the EP’s introduction to the world.

‘”From the Inside’ has exposed a maturity in our sound from our last two records. Working with producer, Jon Landry, helped us craft the best version of the songs. It was written during a time when we all felt uncertain about our futures not just in music but in life. It has themes of rebirth, admiration, confusion, frustration, and hate. The songs all have a mixture of emotions, but the EP will carry you through journeys of escapism. This EP, in our opinion, is our best work to date and we are thrilled to release it.” adds vocalist/guitarist Heather Harris.

The lyrics for From the Inside were written during real change around the world and an internal bittersweet struggle. Along with that, Heather Harris became a new mother and was trying to find her place in a new reality really speaks loudly in the emotions on the record. Some themes are of destruction while others of hope, each song has its own theme/feel. Listening to these selected six songs, the band offers up an unearthing of realities in life through sounds and wanting to create something new.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey, we’re Kilmore and we like to play loud music. We are based in Halifax, NS, and have been playing for nearly 10 years. We have a groovy stoner rock vibe and like to turn the amps up. We just released our latest album “From The Inside” and are excited about releasing it to the world.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

“From the Inside” is our 3rd album which contains 6 darker-edged songs with themes of rebirth, loneliness, love, hate, and admiration. Jon Landry (The Stanfield) produced the album and helped to shape the direction of the music. It was recorded over the lockdowns and was a challenge to complete, but we are excited to finally have it released. The artwork was done by local artist Stephen MacDonald and he really created amazing imagery for the album.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

What inspires me to write songs is the feeling of constructing something creative and having people enjoy/relate to it. Writing is an outlet for me and having the ability to write down my feelings and express them through music is an amazing feeling. Hearing new music also inspires me to write and think outside the box when it comes to writing different types of songs.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

Belly Up Bar & Grill, Truro, NS – July 15th, 2023
Gutterfest – Windsor, NS – July 21-22, 2023

More to be announced

What’s your goal for 2023?

Our goal this year is to release our new album and have as many people listen to it as possible. Gaining new fans is always a goal and inspires us to keep writing. We are releasing a music video for each song on the album and want to create something visual to go along with the music. Playing live for new fans and playing in different venues is always on our list.
