R&B Singer SLAE Shares Dangerously Seductive New Single “Smile”
Stanley Merent, a.k.a. SLAE, is a second-generation Haitian musician who writes electronic-infused R&B, afrobeat, and pop music. Currently based in Montreal, QC, SLAE’s moody single, “Smile,” incorporates English and French lyrics.
The song is inspired by his travels in the USA, and the fun, smiley moments he shared with his companions. In particular, it alludes to a sexual desire between the singer and a woman with a dangerously seductive smile.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
“Smile” is my second single this year and is a culmination of songs written over a several-year-long inner exploration. Produced by CERTIBEATS and mixed-master by Chino Wawa, the single gives nice flavours of a good and sensual dance that will flood your senses and make you project intimate and transforming joy, all thanks to the dancing of the arrangements and the sound butterflies that will fly around you, teaching you steps synchronized with the rhythm and its sensory pleasures.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
Most of my inspiration comes from life experiences I live most of the time or some things that my closest people around me go through.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
I’m having a show at “The Secret” on June 17th in Laval, Qc. It would be my first show this year. I’ll most likely do an album release show at the end of the year.
What’s your goal for 2023?
My goal this year is to get known everywhere across the globe for my music and be able to do shows and tours outside of Canada.
