Singer-songwriter JJ Shiplett has unveiled his brand new single “Already There”
Few musicians can capture a person’s attention by way of song as effortlessly as Calgary-based JJ Shiplett does and this songwriter, singer, musician, and storyteller is an artist who always leaves a lasting impression on listeners.
And, it happened again on May 16 with the release of his single “Already There” (Red Buffalo Records under the exclusive license of Jayward Artist Group). The new track, written by JJ Shiplett and produced by Jay Stewart at Fort Studios in Langley, BC, features a driving groove like the open road with your hand out the window and heartfelt lyrics that urge you to belt them out.
Shares Shiplett,
“This song came to me when I was at one of my favourite spots to write – a ranch along the banks of the Red Deer River. There’s a peace and a quiet that settles deep inside me when I am there. The verses felt like they always existed, but I just needed to reach out and grab them.”
Shiplett continues to say,
“This is a song about that winding road, running down a dream and following it, wherever it takes you – the journey and the destination. No matter how hard we try, you’ve got to adapt, you’ve got to grow, you’ve got to evolve, you’ve got to adjust. But in the end, you just gotta ride the wave because you never really know where you’re gonna go until you’re already there.”
Out of the gate, “Already There” was added to SiriusXM’s weekly show North Americana, garnered the cover image of Amazon Music’s Brushland playlist, included on ten Apple Music playlists that include New Music Daily, New In Americana, New in Rock and Back Porch Country. “Already There” was also featured on Spotify’s Folk & Friends.

Calling JJ Shiplett a force of nature might be considered hyperbole to those who haven’t heard the singer perform live, but for anyone that has, it fits the bill just right.
