Tonight, American Soul singer Lee Fields brought all the good vibes to Montreal!
Up first, Montreal singer Hanorah opened the evening. Fresh off a tour in the UK, the singer performed tracks from her debut album Perennial, released at the end of last year. Dressed in glitter and submerged in colourful lights, Hanorah performed an intimate set, accompanied by two musicians. Her delicate yet powerful voice resonated through the theatre, leaving the audience in awe.
Shortly after 9pm, the headlining musicians took to the stage with a small instrumental intro, until the man of the evening arrived onstage to a thunder of applause. Lee Fields performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival last summer, and clearly left the audience itching for his return as the theatre was well packed at this point! While his performance last summer was already of a very high caliber, it was an absolute treat to now see him in a smaller venue. Turning the Corona Theater into a proper jazz club, Lee Fields left it all on the stage as he grooved and danced non-stop during his 80-minute set, to the point you would forget he is 72 years old! Tonight was a true soul masterclass, led by a legend showing us how it gets done.
