EP: You Like Missing Me
Release Date: April 28, 2023
Genre: Country
The Wild Palominos is a neo-traditional country/folk band from Montmagny, QC. Félix Guimond (lead singer), Olivier Tanguay (drums and back vocals), and Jérémy Boulet (guitar, back vocals, and songwriter) offer a country sound inspired by some of America’s greatest country legends Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, and Brooks and Dunn.
The six-song EP, You Like Missing Me, begins with their previous single, “Long Way Home,” and also features their latest single, “Hit the Jukebox.”
“Hit the Jukebox” immediately treats the listener to a classic country sound, with plenty of twang and toe-tapping rhythms. The instrumentation is off the charts, with catchy riffs and a memorable solo that adds depth and texture to the song. Félix’s deep, distinctive vocals feature that hallmark classic country tone along with a tone that is sometimes gruff or gravelly.
The title track, “You Like Missing Me,” exudes an authentic, classic sound that country fans are all too familiar with while incorporating various elements of a more modern style. The line “I’m starting to think you like missing me” perfectly encapsulates the frustration and desperation of trying to understand someone else’s feelings.
Overall, the newly released EP features six sides of the band. No two songs are alike. Whether you’re looking for a mellow, traditional tune, or an upbeat, modern listening experience, The Wild Palominos have you covered.
