Lily Monaghan releases “Sleeping Alone” from her Introspection EP
Lily Monaghan‘s music feels like turning through someone’s open diary— the unspoken truths, silent reflections, insecurities, moments of acceptance—all of these aspects pour out during the single “Sleeping Alone.”
Lily sings as if she’s right next to you, confessing that even though she knows she will break someone’s heart, she is better off alone. That individualism is something we have all experienced and had to reconcile with, making this track highly relatable.
Under light folk and country-tinged instrumentation, Lily opens up on “Sleeping Alone” as if she’s talking with a best friend. It’s heart-rending but also extremely powerful, and you can’t well but sway to the layered vocals of “Shoot a dead man down.”
“This first single is extremely close to my heart and transports me to when I was 20, confused, and doing all of the wrong things with the worst decisions in my first relationship,” she says. “This tune is a product of endless pondering and self analysis from that period in my life, and it really helped me reach peace with myself.”
