Altered By Mom unveils their new single, “Dive In”
Toronto, ON-based musical power couple Altered By Mom is made up of Gina Kennedy and Devon Lougheed.
The duo has unveiled their first single of 2023, “Dive In.” “Dive In” is a hooky psychedelic call to action to chase after the things that scare you the most.
“Dive In” follows their previous release, a 52-song album entitled 52 Songs, which saw the duo listed on the official Spotify “Fresh Finds” playlist, songwriting collabs with members of Bush, Lowest of the Low, and Terra Lightfoot, and twice featured on Kim’s Convenience on CBC Television.

Coming in at under the 3-minute mark, “Dive In” packs a powerful message which will surely relate to many.
As soon as Gina’s vocals began, it was evident that they were the star of this track and were elevated by the accompanying music.
The lyrics, “Now I can see that you, Wanna count on me, And it should be as easy as 1-2-3, Take a breath, Take another one, Take another one,” and “Why can’t I just dive in, Why can’t I take the leap, You always said that you believe in me,” really struck a chord with me, as I spent many years of my life in just that situation. I can’t even count the number of times I took breath after breath and then still backed away in fear.
Many, if not all of us, know this feeling and feel alone in it. This song proves we’re not alone.
I figure I’ll add a bit more inspiration to the track and tell you that once I pushed myself and did the things that scared me, I felt so accomplished.
So, turn this track up, take the leap, and dive in! You won’t regret it.
