Fionn Share Stunning Awakening with “Waves” and A Live Performance Video
Vancouver pop duo Fionn have released their latest single, “Waves,” available for streaming via 604 Records. Accompanying the release, “the sisters remind fans of their raw talent with a special live performance video.”
With “Waves,” the duo return to their folk roots and display a new depth of vulnerability. This track is “an awakening where they are making authentic music to them, despite the ever-changing industry landscape.”
According to Brianne, the track was written “at a time of my life where I simply had enough. I was so sick of constant lockdowns and restrictions from the pandemic and really felt like I would never be able to reach my goals and dreams.” Many times during 2020-2022, many of us experienced the ups and downs that came with the times. Brianne continued, “The moment that really sent me over the edge was when I had an experience that made me feel like I was also never going to be able to get my romantic life in order. The night after, I sat down with my acoustic guitar and wrote ‘Waves’ until 5 am. Now, whenever I feel like nothing’s going my way, I sing it to myself and genuinely feel better.”
This track will be one of many included on Fionn’s new record, set to be released in 2023. This album is expected to be a full-circle record for Fionn, revisiting the sound and spirit of their heralded first releases. The duo has been quite prolific since the release of their debut album, developing a songwriting palette early in their career. Their latest finds the sisters leaning on their Celtic roots and limiting their palette with organic instrumentation. It’s still catchy as hell, relying on musicianship, songwriting acumen, and authenticity for hooks instead of high-tech tools.
