Anna Goldsmith Wants You To Create Your Own Path And Not Be A ‘Follower’ In New Single
Creating your own path and being proud of yourself is the message behind Anna Goldsmith‘s latest single, “Follower.”
Living by her own words with her writing, performances, and personal life, Anna Goldsmith, is a 15-year-old multi-instrumentalist and musical force, focusing on her talents and her desire to create music and share messages of kindness, hope, and confidence.
Goldsmith’s “Follower” explores new situations….and choices.
“I was in my room thinking of song ideas and I remembered when I was a little kid, sometimes when I was in a situation that was new to me, I had voices in my head telling me what to do. Sometimes it was the right thing and other times, the wrong thing. I learned how to deal with the voices and to make my own path, write my own story, all through my music.”
And “Follower” isn’t only catching the attention of Goldsmith’s fans across her social media channels. She has the backing of some big names in the industry who are eagerly waiting to work with her on her music and promote the young dynamo’s career.
Goldsmith connected with BluePurple Records through Instagram for music to flow with her lyrics.
“They reached out to me directly, and I had so much fun recording and working on “Follower” with them. The team at the label create the music, and I write the lyrics and record the vocals and we collaborate from there. It’s been an amazing way to meet people and collaborate.”
Anna loves nothing more than singing on stage and entertaining a crowd, and while she’s at it, she wants to help people too.
“My goal is to relate to people and show them it is amazing to be themselves and make sure everyone knows they are not alone.”
When she isn’t writing songs and entertaining, Anna is a great example for others as a volunteer with youth-centered groups, providing needed support to at-risk youth.
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
HI! I am Anna, and I am 15 years old. I am in grade 10, my favourite subject at school right now is drama, and I have two dogs. They are opposites of each other and are so funny. I am a singer, songwriter, actor, and dancer, and I like to ski.
Tell us what’s been going on since the spring.
Since the spring, I have been doing extra vocal and performance training with Lawson Vocal Studios, and I have been writing many songs.
I was so excited to be able to perform at some concerts this year with Talent Nation at Revival two times in Toronto, as well as at the Chelsea Music Hall in NYC! I also got to perform at the El Mocambo with Lawson Vocal Studios, and this Fall, I’ve been singing the Canadian Anthem at some hockey games – it has been so much fun! I also got to act in a short film which will be released in the new year.
What’s your relationship to social media like, as “Follower” might be about that, too?
I have some social media accounts. I am most active on Instagram, then TikTok, and lastly Twitter. I try to post something every day about projects I am working on, fun videos, or uplifting messages that might help my friends and followers with a rough day. I also like to post about youth organizations I work with to help them gain followers and support for their fundraising events, as helping at-risk youth is very important to me. I have had a positive experience with social media and have the best followers!
Who was the first artist to knock you out?
I was absolutely blown away by Freddie Mercury. His vocals are incredible. My favourite Queen song is Killer Queen, and when any of their songs come on in the car, I have to crank the volume and sing along! I have been a fan of Freddie & Queen since I was about six years old. I loved going to the cinema to see the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. Listening to the music on that sound system was incredible.
What’s the one album by a Canadian artist that everyone should have in their collection?
Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette, of course. She is strong, independent, confident, powerful, and inspiring! Alanis’s writing, vocals, and rock vibe always get me pumped up!
