Montreal, QC-based duo, Five Roses have unveiled a video for their single, “Heartbreak Anytime”, which is produced and co-written by fellow Montreal-based producing and songwriting duo, The Lost Boys. The track is about how even a player can get caught up in his game and fall in love. It’s about a woman’s experience with bad boys that won’t commit and how it’s time for her to switch those roles.
The music video, produced by Dominic Renzetti tells that story perfectly when a guy gets caught by the 2 women he was seeing behind their back. Check it out below, and find out more about Five Roses via our Five Questions With segment.
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Let’s say Cassadee Pope and Jake Owen ran into each other in a bar and decided to start a band. Well, that’s us!
We met back in 2016 in a barbershop, which turned into a summer of songwriting. We dropped our first EP in 2018 and the rest is history. We are currently finishing up our second EP and will be dropping it in summer 2020.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
We are equal parts country, rock, and pop. Our songs range from a slow ballad to a honky-tonk party anthem. We typically write with people, as the best ideas tend to come alive when you’re sharing creative space with other songwriters!
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
We have a booked up summer of festivals! We’ll be on the road quite a bit, from Montreal all the way to Gaspé. Our live set is a party! We can really up the volume and energy, but also have no problem getting real personal and strumming those heartstrings with a country ballad.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Our most recent single “Heartbreak Anytime” really embodies where we’re at right now musically. Give it a listen and let us know what you think!
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
We’ve been listening to a whole range of music, from the newest freshest pop like Justin Bieber to some throwback 90s country artists like Riley Green. Great music is GREAT music, regardless of the genre or era!
