Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Myer Clarity. I’m a multi-genre producer, rapper, singer/songwriter from Montreal, Canada. I live in Toronto now. I’m here because misery loves company. I was also told there’d be snacks.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

I want you to imagine a Venn Diagram with three circles. On one circle is the Arctic Monkeys, on the other is Anderson .Paak and on the third is Kanye West. I think that’s a fair representation of what’s stuck with me sonically over the years. In terms of writing style, I feel like we all have superpowers as artists, like sentiments or wordplay, and I think mine is immersion. I try really bringing you in to where I’m at emotionally when I’m writing. Coming up, it was always a struggle to be heard and understood, and I’m sure a lot of people can relate to that feeling. We all experience a lot of hurt and trauma and I think music is the vehicle for some of that hurt to fully be heard and understood and processed. Lastly, I came up listening to Eminem and Kweli so you know the rhymes are on point.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

We have a US tour on the horizon, Sept 10 – 15. Will have a Toronto homecoming show on the end of it. Stay tuned!!

For someone who has yet to see me live, it’s a party.

I’ve had a lot of weird jobs in my life, comedian being one of them, public speaker being another, so there’s that.

I also give it 100% every time, just because, I’m there doing what I love, and it should be apparent, so I want others to feed off that energy.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

It would be ‘All The Way Down’, that one is just a polished gem that leaves people stunned every time.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

I grew up listening to Classified, K-os, Art of Fresh, Northern Lights, SonReal, etc. I’d also like to give a shout out to Illvibe & Skevious Tips.
