The kids of Juniper Ridge Intermediate in Torbay, NL, welcomed a very special visitor.
Canadian music icon, Corey Hart, stopped by the school on Thursday to deliver $10,000 in new instruments from the MusiCounts Band Aid Program.
Thanks to the generous support of Canada’s Great Kitchen Party, who support initiatives promoting Canadian culture through music, sport and food, Hart performing his hits “Never Surrender” and “Sonny’s Dream” for excited students, and spoke about the impact that music education had on his own career and took questions from the students; while the music students of Juniper Ridge Intermediate honoured the Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee with a rendition of Hart’s classic, “Sunglasses At Night”.
Thanks to the MusicCounts Band Aid Program, 96 schools across Canada received $1 million in instruments and equipment in 2019; and in recent years have supported over 1,000 schools, ensuring success and growth of Canada’s music programs.
