After checking in with a Juno’s representative, Maddy and I were directed to a room that was buzzing with anticipation; a DJ was playing some music, people were gathered around tables, others were setting up their cameras to take pictures or broadcast the event. You could see musicians, industry reps, journalists and photographers all excitedly mingling waiting for that 11 am announcement of who we could expect to be nominated for a coveted Juno Award.

The conference started like any other, an introduction of what to expect for the 48th annual Juno Awards, a few thank yous to CARAS and CBC and then Allan Reid continued to tell us what we can expect on Sunday, March 17th at Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario.

He started his news with announcing Loud Luxury was playing the Junos stage for their first time, and that bülow would also be performing. A special announcement that the one and only Sarah McLachlan will also be hosting for the first time and she could not be more excited! She then motioned for us to watch the nominees appear on the screen.

Shawn Mendes takes the lead in most Juno nominations in categories including Songwriter of The Year, Single of the Year and more. Bülow is a first time Juno nominee with four nominations, Loud Luxury also a first time nominee with four nominations as well.

We also saw nominations go The Weeknd with five nominations including R&B/Soul Recording of the Year and others; we were also lucky to see artists like Alessia Cara, Michael Bublé, KILLY and Three Days Grace nominated for multiple awards.

For more information on where you can see the nominations, head over to www.junoawards.ca; you can also find out more information about where you can watch the Junos on St. Patrick’s Day, what you can do to be involved and what events are happening during the week leading up to the Junos.
