Toronto, ON-based artist Jacqueline Tucci effortlessly blends genres and plays with melodies and vocal deliveries, resulting in a refreshing and individual sound that will invite you in with its raw, honest energy and make you want to stick around.
Her new single, “Home” is ultimately about authenticity and taking chances, rather than fighting our feelings. It’s about finding the courage to be honest with ourselves, feel our true feelings, and embrace vulnerability.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello! My name is Jacqueline and I’m a musician from Toronto.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
It’s hard for me to assign a genre to my music but I draw a lot from grunge and punk rock in general. I love to blend genres and experiment with sounds in my music to make each song its own thing. I usually start with an idea for a lyric and maybe a melody, then sit down with my guitar and work out the chords and build the rest of the song from there. I do love letting the song take shape in the studio though, so some of the “writing” is actually just improvised in the moment which I think captures a really raw energy, which is probably the most common thread in all my music.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
COVID has mostly put shows on hold for now, so I don’t have anything coming up. I actually was supposed to play my first show for this project in the spring and it was cancelled due to the pandemic. But these songs have a lot of energy and I’m so excited to play them live. We have the live show ready to go when we can and the live versions of the songs will be even bigger than the recorded versions. I can’t wait to connect to people through a live show.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
This is a tough question because each one of my songs is different. Right now though I’d say listen to the latest single, ‘Home.’
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
My current favourite are Skeleton Club, Chastity, and The OBGMs.
