Like A Motorcycle releases new single, “Wide Awake”

Halifax rockers Like A Motorcycle shared their first single “Wide Awake” as new signees to Known Accomplice, Cadence Music’s rock imprint.

They accompanied the punchy, energetic track with a music video, filmed entirely in quarantine in guitarist KT Lamond’s apartment on a green screen. It reflects a world impacted by the pandemic and what happens when people have a choice to live their lives without their prior consumerism-driven daily routines.

The foursome – Michelle Skelding, Kim Carson, KT Lamond, and David Casey – released their debut album together in 2016, titled “High Hopes.” Since then, the band has dealt with a number of personal and professional issues including internal breakups, health issues, substance abuse, and an unstable former record label. Through it all they leaned on each other and pushed to create more music, now with their new label home.

In a statement released via a press release, Carson reflects on their new song:

“Although ‘Wide Awake’ was written some time ago, its sentiment rings true now more than ever. ‘Wide Awake’ is about waking up between a past stained with unhealthy choices and a future of bleak dystopian uncertainty. Where do we go when leaving the past means potentially losing everything we’ve worked for? Can we break vicious cycles and bad habits without losing the people and things that comfort us? How does change and its uncertainty make us feel?”

“Wide Awake” is available to stream everywhere. For more information on Like A Motorcycle and their music, visit their website and social media pages.
