We caught up with Carli and Julie from the country duo, Twin Kennedy to chat about their Valentines Day preferences, as well as their new single, “Call It Love”.
Check out the video below and find out about some of their thoughts on Valentines Day, romance movies, and more!
Tell us a bit about your new single, “Call It Love”:
“Call It Love” is our Valentine’s Day theme song! We wrote this tune with our good friend, Steve Rivers. We wanted to write a happy, feel-good love song about the tipping point in a relationship where you go from like to love. We hope this song inspires listeners to say what’s in their hearts!
When you think of Valentine’s Day, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating love! For us, that means quality time with our boyfriends, sending cards home to our family, and hosting a Galentine’s Day brunch for our girlfriends!
Which “traditional” gift would you rather receive: chocolates, flowers, jewelry, or a card with a personal message?
How is a woman supposed to pick between all of these fabulous options?! A personal message is always the most special, but dark chocolate is also a way to our hearts!
Do you think Valentine’s Day is only about romantic love, or is it a good occasion to celebrate friendship or family?
We love to spend Valentine’s Day with our sweeties, and we love any chance to celebrate romance and relationships. For us, Valentine’s Day has always been about celebrating all of the people we love – our boyfriends, our family, and our friends. It’s a great chance to remind everyone we care about just how much they mean to us – be it with a card, a phone call, or a love song!
Do you like romantic movies? If so, what’s your favourite?
We love romantic movies…So it’s hard to pick just one! When it comes to rom-coms that we watch over and over again, some of our favourites are What Happens in Vegas, The Holiday, and He’s Just Not That Into You. New romantic movie favourites include The Big Sick, Always Be My Maybe and Someone Great.
What is your go-to romantic song?
Carli – I love Charlie Worsham’s “Old Time’s Sake” – the sentiment and the production have a classic, romantic vibe.
Julie – I’ve always loved Eastmountainsouth’s “So Are You to Me”. It became even more special this year because Carli and I performed it at our sister’s wedding while she walked down the aisle!
What does your dream Valentine’s Day date consist of?
Carli – I love surprises, so my dream Valentine’s Day date is for my boyfriend to surprise me with plans. I love it when we try something new together – last year, we took a cooking class together and it was so much fun!
Julie – I love traveling, so planning a trip around this holiday would be my dream date. Adding in a beach location and dinner at sunset wouldn’t hurt!
