Countdown to Osheaga: The 5 Most Anticipated Sets of this year’s edition!

Very slowly but surely, spring has been arriving in Montreal. This can only mean one thing: summer is around the corner, and so is the 2019 edition of Osheaga! To help you power through this weather that feels more like October, we have compiled a list of the 5 artists we are most looking forward to seeing at the festival!

5. Francis and the Lights (Friday)
Montrealers have been waiting for Francis Farewell Starlite’s musical project to come around for quite some time now. Their sold-out, highly-anticipated show at the Corona Theater back in December was cancelled, so the first day of the festival will be the perfect occasion to catch their addictive pop tunes live!

4. The Chemical Brothers (Saturday)
Not only will the UK Electro band be giving their only North American festival headlining performance at Osheaga, but this will also be their first show in town in almost 20 years! The Chemical Brothers promise to bring their signature electrifying set, complete with stunning visuals to close out Saturday night.

3. The Lumineers (Friday)
The Lumineers are no stranger to Montreal: their last performance at Osheaga was in 2016, and the band performed in a sold-out Bell Centre in 2017. This year, the American folk-rock band is back to headline the first night of the festival, ready to sway the audience with their dreamy sounds.

2. Janelle Monáe (Saturday)
To the despair of her Montreal fans, Janelle Monáe has only performed twice in town: at Osheaga in 2011, and in 2012. Since then, the pop singer-songwriter and activist has refined her craft, to reach true levels of performance and aesthetics.

1. Childish Gambino (Sunday)
For the past 3 years, Donald Glover has been the name on everyone’s lips. From his critically-acclaimed TV show “Atlanta”, to taking the iconic role of Lando in “Solo: A Star Wars Story”, and not forgetting his double Grammy-win this year on “This is America”, Glover’s musical project Childish Gambino will not be one to miss. The rapper also headlined Coachella this year, and that performance alone is a great indicator that Childish Gambino will be the perfect set to close out the festival.

Osheaga 2019 will take place in Montreal August 2nd – 4th. General Admission, Gold, and Perrier Platinum 3-day passes are now on sale on the festival’s website.
