Metalocalypstick announces 2019 lineup

It would take about an hour to drive the length of BC’s Hwy 24, and in that time you would see woodland, farmland, lakes, and a few quiet communities almost small enough to pass through without even noticing you had been there. However, if you’re looking for a quiet place to escape to this coming Canada Day weekend, you’ll want to keep on driving past Lone Butte, BC. On June 29th & 30th, Lone Butte Community Hall will host the fourth annual Metalocalypstick Fest, a woman-focused Metal music festival.

This year’s lineup includes bands from across Canada, like Vancouver’s own Attack The Fire, Chaos Century, and The Shit Talkers; Saskatoon’s Violent Betty, Subterranea from Toronto, and many more. Also playing will be the Canadian-Egyptian band Massive Scar Era, and Tasmanian metal band Interitum.

Founded in 2016 by Kaija Kinney, of Vancouver-based band Anarcheon, the festival is both a celebration of women in Metal and a chance to help uplift girls and women around Vancouver. In addition to showcasing the talents of many incredible women in the industry, they also operate as a non-profit organization, with half of their proceeds being used to sponsor an independent band, and the other half given to charities like Girls Rock Camp and Vancouver Rape Relief & Women’s Shelter.
