Vancouver-based rock project draws inspiration from Entourage and Ian Gregson’s 25 years in the film industry ahead of Flying High, arriving November 6

Vancouver-based Mr M & The All Nighters have unveiled their new single, “Johnny Drama,” a guitar-driven track inspired by the memorable character portrayed by Kevin Dillon in the television series Entourage. Drawing on band leader Ian Gregson’s own experiences working in Vancouver’s film industry, the song explores the frustrations, excitement, rejection, and unexpected triumphs that come with pursuing a career in entertainment.

With 25 years of experience in film and television, Gregson found a personal connection to the character’s determination and often unpredictable career. His own credits include appearances and work on productions such as The X-Files, Highlander, Supernatural, Arrow, Snowpiercer, Fire Country, Wrongfully Accused, Godzilla, and the Twilight film series.

“Johnny Drama played by Kevin Dillon is a character I identified with on the TV show Entourage. The character resonated with me as a 25 year veteran of the Vancouver Film Industry and having worked on many productions over the years as background, stunts or as an actor.”

Gregson also recalls working on a scene with Entourage actress Emmanuelle Chriqui during the production of Superman & Lois, adding another connection between his own career and the series that inspired the song.

Flying High Arrives November 6

“Johnny Drama” offers a glimpse into Mr M & The All Nighters’ upcoming project, Flying High, scheduled for release on November 6, 2026.

The project draws inspiration from a wide range of personal experiences, including relationships, world events, television, film, and the music that has shaped Gregson’s creative outlook.

His influences span the atmospheric electronic sounds of Tangerine Dream, Talk Talk, and Thomas Dolby, the darker textures of Portishead, and the guitar-driven rock of Thin Lizzy and Ultravox.

Gregson’s vocal inspirations include Bryan Ferry, Paul Weller, Ian Dury, Alex Harvey, and Nick Cave, while guitarists such as Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, Steve Morse, Pat Travers, and Frank Marino have helped shape his playing style.

Rather than committing to a single musical direction, Flying High moves between energetic guitar-driven rock and more atmospheric compositions. Saxophone, synthesizers, and recurring melodic themes all play important roles in creating a sound that balances familiarity with experimentation.

More About Mr M & The All Nighters

Originally from Lancashire, England, Ian Gregson relocated from the Wigan area to Vancouver in 1981. Before pursuing music more seriously, he represented Canada at the 1984 and 1988 Paralympic Games.

In 2000, Gregson made a commitment to developing his musical career, joining The Carnival Band in 2005 before establishing Mr M & The All Nighters in 2006.

The project brings together Gregson’s guitar work and electronic influences with the distinctive saxophone contributions of Manny Albeury, creating music that moves between rock, electronic, instrumental, and jazz-influenced styles.

For Gregson, songwriting is closely connected to lived experience. Relationships, social issues, world events, and personal challenges all contribute to the creative process, even when a composition doesn’t follow a specific narrative.

With “Johnny Drama” and the forthcoming Flying High, Mr M & The All Nighters continue exploring the possibilities of blending musical influences, personal experiences, and unexpected sonic directions.
