Nothing More, Catch Your Breath, Archers, Doobie

The boys in Nothing More made a stop in Calgary on their Carnal Nature tour, at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino.
Setting the pace for the evening was the band Doobie, a heavy-hitting 4 piece who immediately captured the crowd’s attention and held it for the duration of their set.

Archers followed up, elevating things even further with most puts and singalongs – the crowd definitely LOVED these guys.

Direct support came from Catch Your Breath, an Austin based rock group that generated feverish energy with the melodic hooks, catchy vocal lines and harmonies, and in your face stage presence.

Nothing More began their set with an intro track, (Hinder’s Lips of an Angel), which soon cut off into their “Carnal” intro, which then bellowed into their first song of the night, House of Sand. Firing on all cylinders straight out of the gate, the band was super engaging with the crowd, pounding out song after song with an unbridled passion and energy for what they do.
A super neat part of the set came when they did their solo sections – drummer Ben Anderson did a drum solo which turned into a drum battle with vocalist Jonny Hawkins, who had his own minimal setup on the other side of the stage. During the bass solo, Daniel Oliver set his bass on some weird rack contraption, and began playing , which soon turned into guitarist Mark Vollelunga joining him, one man on either side, each doing a two handed tapping solo in harmony. Then Jonny jumped in with a pair of drum sticks and began playing percussive notes as well! It was quite interesting section! Finally Mark finished up with a centre-stage spotlight guitar solo, as they jumped into a fan-picked song called SPIRITS. All in all, it was a super high energy show and a ton of fun. I’m looking forward to the next time these bands come back!
