Uncle Fester & Stephen Hero share “Can’t Stop (Workin).” A class solidarity anthem, the single marks both the first collaboration between Stephen Hero and Aquakultre and the focus track for Uncle Fester & Stephen Hero’s new LP The Squeeze, out now.
“This song came together beginning with Uncle Fester’s incredible beat and a series of conversations between myself and Aquakultre about what themes we connect on,” said Stephen Hero (he/him). “Eventually we met up at Fester’s studio to record the song in person, and actually wrote the back and forth section in the studio. The song explores the theme of divisiveness being fed to working people and the power of coming together as a community, which is a larger theme of the album in general as well.”
“Can’t Stop (Workin)” hails from The Squeeze, the first full-length collaboration between Stephen Hero and Uncle Fester. The album digs deeper into Hero’s past with his signature storytelling, while also exploring working-class themes familiar to his work, in a deeper and more urgent manner than previous releases.
“This album is about the trap of capitalism and the way working class people are divided by the ruling class, and an enthusiastic call for class solidarity,” Hero said. “It features Fester’s signature warm, sample-based production, an intricate rhyme style, and a stacked feature list including Moka Only, Aquakultre, Wolf Castle and more.”
