A FRESH NEW ALBUM ABOUT PASSION AND FREEDOM TAKING US BACK TO A CLASSIC HONKY-TONK
From Montmagny, the neo-traditional country trio The Wild Palominos releases today their first full-length album, Wilder. This ten-track album captures the group’s vibrant energy and emotional depth, building on their EP You Like Missing Me, which has garnered over 130,000 streams since its April 2023 release. Earlier this year, they launched the title track, followed by “Burn Me Down” and “Racing Hearts.”
Wilder highlights the band’s growth and richer sound, elevating The Wild Palominos to new heights. Produced by the trio — Félix Guimond (vocals), Olivier Tanguay (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Jérémy Boulet (acoustic guitar, backing vocals), and Manuel Marie—the album features original songs about freedom and passion. With meticulous arrangements and enhanced musical depth, this record marks a new chapter for the emerging group on the Quebec country scene.
Having performed at various festivals this summer, including Rythmes New Country Tremblant, Festival Western de Guigues and Festival Western de St-Tite, The Wild Palominos recently achieved a major milestone with their first performance outside Quebec at the CCMA Crawl in Edmonton on September 13, as part of the Canadian Country Music Association celebrations.
Written and produced independently, this album is both a reflection of their journey and a bold exploration of country/folk horizons, while maintaining the essence that defines The Wild Palominos. The focus track, “Blaze Of Glory,” opens the album with a rock ‘n’ roll energy that grabs attention from the first notes. With each song, listeners are transported to another era, filled with the nostalgic warmth of vibrant American honky-tonks. The Texan influences of bands like Midland, Randy Rogers, and Cody Johnson color the album, fostering a space where emotions and party mode intertwine.
Recorded at Studio Wild, nestled in the woods of Saint-Zénon, the album blends traditional roots with bolder sounds. The richness of the arrangements, enriched by Guillaume Scott (pedal steel, banjo, acoustic guitar), Antoine Kosko Fafard (electric guitar, slide guitar), Étienne Joly (electric guitar), and Philippe Girard (mandolin), shine through. This is further complemented by the contributions of Annabelle Gagnon (B3, Wurlitzer, piano) and Nicolas Fontaine (bass, percussion, acoustic guitar, Farfisa), each adding their unique touch to create a truly vintage honky-tonk experience.
To mark this exciting milestone, The Wild Palominos will host two album release events: September 27th in Montmagny (Salle Promutuel) and October 1st in Montreal (Cabaret Lion d’Or). Andie Therio, a featured artist on the album, will open the Montmagny show, while Savannah Jade will kick off the evening in Montreal. Tickets are available at thewildpalominos.com.
