ZACH’S PICKS OF THE WEEK – JULY 22 TO JULY 27, 2024

It’s time to find out Zach’s Picks of the Week

You are joining us once again for the best new music around. That’s why you decided to tune in to Canadian beats, and this is Zach’s Picks Of the Week!! A series where we actually explore all the articles, that were featured this last week on Canadian Beats Media.

As always, I hand-picked my favourite tunes for you to enjoy and share with your friends and family. Some you may have heard of and others you may not have but that’s OK. Because trust me, it’s the best new music around so that’s why we’re checking it out here on our show. Link to each of the articles where you posted within the article you have to be reading right now. If you don’t enjoy the articles, I’ve chosen for you. That’s totally OK because our website is chock full of new music for you to enjoy. But when you say we get into the new music right here that is ready for you to enjoy!

Five

Joining us first on the list is going to be Frank Cosentino, with the single “You Can’t Call Back” coming off his upcoming album COMEBACK. Working with producer Derek Downham at Studio Cardinal Toronto, Cosentino is ready to release his next album to the world. His new music does just that – drawing on his past experiences, which include sharing the stage with many greats. Well, if you want to learn more about Frank Cosentino and his upcoming album, check out the link here.

Four

Next up on our list of the best new music, is the incredible team-up consisting of Lindi Ortega and Jack Barksdale. They bring to life the charming renditions of Tom Waits’ memorable tunes, “How’s It Gonna End” and “Yesterday Is Here.” Both artists decided to cover one of each of their favourites. Ortega picked “How’s It Gonna End” Barksdale went with one of his favorite Waits numbers, “Yesterday Is Here”, which he felt paired well with Ortega’s selection. However, you can hear each of them on all streaming platforms now and within our article that is posted here.

Three

Coming up next, we have breakout country artist Garrett Gregory. Gregory joins this week’s list with a brand new single “Flip Off,” which takes listeners to a whole new level of entertainment. Find it across all your streaming platforms now. It’s a riveting country song that defies convention and pushes the boundaries of rock. It’s a powerful break-up song for those who stand tall in the face of adversity, with a message that rings loud and clear: Don’t let anyone push you around. If you enjoy this new single, then go check it out in the article here.

Two

It’s time for my number two recommendation of the week, coming from our website. It’s gonna be a Five Questions With segment with Karma Glider talking about the brand new album Ocean Honey Violence. It’s all about embracing the creative process, trusting your instincts, not overthinking art, and just letting it happen. The result is a sultry collection of elegantly swervy shoegaze and Britpop-informed melodic delights about longing and nostalgia, but also about hope and building friendships along your journey. Learn more via our interview with Karma Glider here.

BONUS: Canadian Beats Passport

Coming up with this week’s bonus recommendation, from our Canadian Beats Passport international features. Canary Islands, Spain-based artist, Daria Maxima brings us the latest single “Forever for Now.” It celebrates the fizzy impermanence of a warm-weather romance—while leaving the door open to something more lasting. Available now across all streaming platforms, so go check it out for yourself. She has had an incredible upbringing, starting out at a very young age with her singing career. Check out the article here.

We have reached my final recommendation for the best new music on our website. Jackie Putnam, an international award-winning country-pop sensation from Debert, Nova Scotia.
