In the recording studio, Noah’s versatility is unmistakable. His singles “Someone Else” and “Way Back When” highlight his range, while his album, All I Wanna Say is a heartfelt tribute to the musical influences that shaped him. Before turning 20, Noah had already collaborated with renowned artists such as Elaine Overholt, Alma Deutscher, Bill King, Anthony Wright, and Charles T. Cozens, and his symphony orchestra, marking his presence in the music industry.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello Canadian Beat readers! My name is Noah Kosta. I am a 20-year-old jazz singer from Vaughan, Ontario, and I am currently studying music at the University of Toronto. I have worked, and performed with incredibly talented people within the music world, such as Alma Deutscher, Elaine Overholt, Glenn Morley, Bill King, and Anthony Wright just to name a few. I have two single releases titled “Someone Else”, and “Way Back When” which were released in 2022, as well as an eight-song album titled “All I Wanna Say” that was released in the summer of 2023.

Tell us a bit about your recent release.

My recent release “All I Wanna Say” is an eight-song passion project that was awarded to me through a singing contest called “The Singing Contest, hosted by John Santos”. It was a collaboration with Anthony Wright, who is a renowned jazz pianist, who trained at Shenandoah. Coming off of “Someone Else”, and “Way Back When”, which were both very pop-infused, “All I Wanna Say” is a show of my versatility as a vocalist. I aimed to cover a different genre of jazz within every one of my songs. There’s Pop, RnB, Jazz Combo, Big Band, Bossa Nova, Jazz Ballad, and Lofi.

How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?

When it comes to writing, I still feel it is a new concept. I usually start by writing out lyrics as thoughts, trying to at least make them make sense. Once I have a lyric structure done, then I would look back at it, see where I can improve it, make it sound stronger, and make it make more sense. This is what I usually stick to, and I find it works. I used this in the title song of my album “All I Wanna Say”, where the chorus was supposed to be the opening verse and a whole bunch of lyrics were changed before the final version. It must’ve been ten, maybe eleven rewrites before I got the version that was released.

Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this Project?

This project was released in 2023, so any support I can give it now is just to perform it wherever I can. It’s still my latest project to date, but I will perform songs on the album wherever I can. When it was released, I didn’t really know what else I could do to promote the album, and with the knowledge that I have gained over the past year since its release, I know that the next one will be promoted much better, and will be a better album overall.

Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?

I believe my career turning point would probably be my recent Canada’s Got Talent audition, which aired two weeks ago. Although it was so recent, I feel that after all these years, I have reached a point where I can say that I have something that has reached a national audience. Now it’s all about where I can take this, and how I can grow it, and I am looking forward to the progression from here.

Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?

An artist I really recommend you check out is Rosita Stone. She is a friend and colleague in the music world. She has an incredible voice, is a genius songwriter, and has been recognized for this already. She is truly an incredible human being, and I seriously recommend you check her music out. It’s very worth it. Again, let me know any feedback you have on it, and I am looking forward to hearing back,
