earth2zoe Releases New Single, “Typical”

Toronto’s own indie pop sensation, earth2zoe has unveiled her new single, “Typical.”

After navigating the unpredictable tides of the music industry, earth2zoe re-emerges with renewed vigor and artistic vision, this time with her latest single, “Typical.” Collaborating with her trusted co-writer Sarah Boulton and producer Mike Schlosser. earth2zoe unveils a compelling anthem that explores the themes of societal conformity, personal liberation, and the quest for authenticity.

This journey began five years ago in 2019 when earth2zoe was working closely with Warner Music Canada. “Typical” was one of her very first sessions, initiated during her collaboration with the label. Although the track was started, it remained unfinished for years. However, the essence of the song’s theme continued to resonate with earth2zoe as she navigated through her personal and professional growth.

The topic of the song, dealing with the pressures of societal expectations and the desire for individuality, became increasingly relevant to earth2zoe as she matured. In 2023, she and her team reconvened to breathe new life into the track, infusing it with the depth and maturity that comes with years of experience and self-discovery.

Reflecting on the collaborative process, earth2zoe recalls the journey of “Typical,” which began five years ago during a time of uncertainty and exploration.

“It’s surreal to think about how this song started half a decade ago,” she muses. “Back then, we were delving into a topic that seemed distant, yet somehow inevitable—a theme that continued to echo in my life over the years. Revisiting the initial demo compared to what we’ve created now is like witnessing a transformation from night to day. It’s a testament to evolution not only of the song but of myself as an artist and individual.”

First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m earth2zoe, an indie pop artist from a suburb north of Toronto. I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, particularly the darker, more introspective ones that often go untold. Through my music, I strive to turn these narratives into catchy tunes that resonate with listeners on a deeper level. It’s all about taking those raw, authentic experiences and channeling them into something relatable.

Tell us a bit about your recent release.

My recent release, “Typical,” explores the themes of societal conformity, personal liberation, and authenticity. This is one of the focus tracks on my EP and started as a distant theme. The track has become a poignant reflection of my own evolution as an artist and individual. It’s a testament to the power of growth and introspection.

How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?

The most insane thing about this track is that it was written 4 years ago, The journey of “Typical” began back in 2019 it remained unfinished for years. However, the essence of its theme continued to resonate with me as I underwent personal and professional growth and it was a topic I wanted to revisit in one of my studio sessions. As I matured, the pressures of societal expectations and the desire for individuality became increasingly relevant. In 2023, my team and I reconvened to breathe new life into the track, infusing it with the depth and maturity that comes with years of experience and self-discovery.

Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?

While I can’t spill all the beans just yet, I can tell you to keep those eyes peeled because there’s plenty of excitement on the horizon. For now, I will say that I’ll be dropping an EP by this summer—a collection of tracks that delve even deeper into the themes explored in “Thirty” and beyond. This EP will serve as the cornerstone for everything else to sprout from, setting the tone for what’s to come.

Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?

Looking back on my musical journey, there’s definitely a standout moment that I consider a turning point—a moment that set the stage for everything that followed. Since rebranding as earth2zoe, I’ve been on a mission to carve out my own unique space in the music world. And that mission took a major leap forward with the release of my debut single, “Hallie’s Song.” Which made its mark on the Billboard Hot AC chart, climbing all the way to #26. It was a surreal moment—one that validated all the hard work and dedication I’d poured into my craft.
