Maddy Little unveils new single, “Attention” (Interview)

Toronto’s Maddy Little Shares Her Second Single, “Attention”

Toronto, ON-based indie artist, Maddy Little spent her formative years immersed in indie-folk band, We Wander, performing at historical venues such as Opera House, El Mocambo, and more. Maddy is deeply influenced in her songwriting by artists such as City and Colour, Dizzy, and Phoebe Bridgers.

Following her debut single, “Six Feet Under,” Maddy has unveiled, “Attention.”

“Attention is about wanting someone who will never fully commit to you, no matter how committed you are to them. I wrote this song for all the people out there in situation-ship wondering what’s next for their relationship.”

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey readers! My name is Maddy Little. I’m an artist based out of Toronto, happy to be here

Could you tell me more about the inspiration behind your single, “Attention?”

Like all my songs, the inspiration for “Attention” comes from personal experiences that I feel deeply about.

How was the creative process different for “Attention” compared to your previous work?

On “Attention” I had a larger role in playing the instruments than in previous songs. This was a new experience for me that I found inspiring. Especially playing the lead guitar. I’ve never been in that role, and to be able to express my creativity in that way was awesome!

Are there any particular artists or influences that inspired you on your musical journey?

Phoebe Bridgers
Dizzy
Dallas Green

Basically just those, I love them.

How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard your music before?

Think Dizzy meets Dallas Green meets Phoebe Bridgers

Last but not least, what else do you have up your sleeve for 2024?

Last April I started working with Matt Snell (Genesis Sound) and will be releasing multiple singles from those sessions over the next months. The songs were recorded at his studio and were co-produced by myself, Snell, Christian Turner, and Konrad Commisso.
