Laraw Unveils New Single, “Standby Baby”
Singer-songwriter Laraw offers “Standby Baby,” her third single released through Bravo. Featuring a grunge-pop sound and ethereal atmosphere, the song is now available on all digital streaming and download platforms.
“Standby Baby” opens with an electro beat and soaring guitars that aptly reflect the track’s contemplative mood. With her candid voice, Laraw openly expresses her feelings about a relationship in which she feels devalued.
“This is for the person who made me feel like I wasn’t enough. Turns out I’m the one who got away,” reveals the Montreal artist.
Named Artist of the Month of December 2023 by the popular morning show Salut Bonjour, Laraw co-wrote this new single with Duncan Hood, who also handled mixing duties. “Standby Baby” was mastered by Richard Addison (Trillium Sound Mastering).
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m Laraw 🙂
Singer, Songwriter, and Producer from Montreal. I started a career in sound design and music production for Video Games but couldn’t find a job so I started writing for fun and thankfully that worked out for me haha.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
“Standby Baby” is about a failed relationship with someone who took me for granted until it was too late. Kind of an anthem for ” the one who got away ”
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
I keep a very intense journal where I write every single little thing that has ever happened to me. I usually just open it and sing whatever I wrote and try to make it a bit more poetic. It’s a very natural and almost therapeutic process that I really enjoy. Finding a melody to your poems of life.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
I have a journal I share with my fans by mail once in a while with more in-depth explanations and a bunch of teasers and bts 🙂 I definitely overshare and I LOVE IT.
There’s also going to be a tour but you’ll have to join my club of oversharing to know more about it 🙂
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
This is all very new for me and I know it’s quite a cheesy answer…but everything I do related to music feels like the biggest blessing and I’m so glad to be able to share my little songs and have people relate to my universe.
